Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to determine of depression and hopelessness levels in the patients with inflammatory bowel diseases. The area of research is composed of 1020 inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) patients registered with at Ankara Turkey Higher Education Training and Research Hospital, IBD and Hepatology Policlinic. The sample of research was completed with 282 patients with IBD. The approvals for this research was received from Ethic Committee and the participants. Survey data was collected by utilizing Personal Into Form, Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and Beck Hopelessness Inventory (BHI). For the analyse of data, descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U test, Chi Square test and Sperman correlation tests have been used. The data were entered to computer environment by SPSS statistics packet program (IBM Corp. Released 2012). The results were evaluated in %95 confidence interval and sense p<0.05 level. The avarage of age 148 UC, 130 CD patients is 45.95±12.25. 62.2% of UC's, 60% of CD's patients are male. The means of depression and hopelessness scores of the study group were calculated as 12.73±9.8 and 5.95±4.48, respectively. While 7.9% of the sample had 'severe depression'; 31.7% had 'mild depression.' In low-income patients, the IBD scores of CD patients were found to be higher than UC patients (p=0.031). The correlation between BDI and BDI scores was positive, moderate and linear (p=0.0001). According to the results from the research, it was found that IBD patients are prone to depression findigs, hopelessness and depression findings are seen to be directly proportional in these patients. It has been suggested that supporting the treatment of IBD patients with psychological therapy and that conducting experimental and blood-based research in the field of nursing.
