Abstract (EN)

International trade has an enormous role in development of countries. The importance of transportation networks has increased in relation with the increase of global trade, and this has resulted in strengthening the existence of more efficient, effective and eco friendly transport system as intermodal transport. Besides any port which would be developed using the owner country's advantages and which can provide a qualified intermodal service with the worldwide standards, would definitely contribute a great deal to country's national income. Moreover, this would increase the country's trade power in the global world. Therefore, ports become to huge competition areas. In increasing port competition conditions, ports which try to provide better services to their customers are using the transport alternatives like intermodal transport newly developed by transport services providers in changing requirements conditions. Assessment of the intermodal transport system alternatives that serves / will serve the trade between Turkey and Germany on Ports in Aegean Region has been carried out in this study. In this research the aim of the study is starting out intermodal transport alternatives between Turkey and Germany, and determine the optimal route in terms of cost, time and distance factors. In the scope of this study seven different intermodal transport routes have been determined in the cable export from Turkey to Germany and various assessments have been carried out in order to be able to choose the most optimal choice of those routes. The method which is Beresford Transit Time-Cost Model been used to provide a solution that will be helpful for the choice of optimal route. As a result, increasing competitive conditions port managers who try to provide value added services to their customers are using the transport alternatives like intermodal transport newly developed by transport services providers in changing requirements conditions.
