Investigation of the quality of life of children with cerebral palsy according to their level of functionality

Abstract (EN)
The study aims to evaluate the quality of life of children with Cerebral Palsy (CP) according to their functional levels. A descriptive study was conducted in hospitals in Diyala, Iraq between April 15, 2022 and September 10, 2022. A total of 150 children between the ages of 4 and 12 were included in the study. The sociodemographic characteristics of the children and parents were recorded by face-to-face evaluation method by asking the parent. The functional levels of the children were determined by the researcher according to the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS). Their quality of life was assessed using for Children with Cerebral Plate the Arabic version of the Quality of Life-Child Scale (CP QOL-CHILD). In the statistical analysis phase of the study, frequency analysis, average comparison tests and correlation analysis were applied. In addition, Kruskal-Wallis tests checked whether the data were suitable for the normal distribution to decide on the statistical tests to be used. In the comparisons, Mann-Whitney you or Kruskal-Wallis tests were applied according to the number of groups from non-parametric tests. The relationships of the sub-dimensions with each other were determined by Sperman-Rho correlation analysis. The quality of life differs according to the functional levels of the children (p<0.05), their quality of life is highest in the parameters of feelings and functionality and social well-being and acceptance; emotional well-being and self-confidence and access to services were found to be the lowest in the parameters. In Iraq, SP children were seen to be out of school. The highest quality of life according to SP types was found to be in Atatics, then in Dyskinetics and most recently in Spstics. It was seen that
