Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, a reverse engineering technique is investigated to predict the real properties of materials of collapsed or damaged reinforced concrete structures caused by severe earthquakes. For this purpose, two full scale laboratory tested structures were used for verifying of the technique. First structure is a two dimension three bay and four story reinforced concrete bare frame that tested in European Laboratory for Structural Assessment. Other structure is also reinforced concrete tall bridge pier that tested in Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center. The numerical solutions are obtained by using Fiber Element Approaches based on displacement and force. The material properties for the reinforced concrete elements are defined according to American Concrete Institute code (ACI-318) and Turkish Standard 500 (TS500). The comparisons are evaluated in terms of story displacement and damaged regions obtained from experimental and numerical results. The material classes of the structures are determined by numerical solution the best compatible with experimental response.
