İsmail Fenni Ertugrul's understanding of God

When the history of thought is examined, it is seen that there are many opinions about the understanding of God. Likewise, İsmail Fennî Ertuğrul, who is an important figure in the history of Turkish thought, also included opinions about the belief in God in his works. While he based his personal thoughts, he did not fail to criticize some philosophical movements of his time. In this study, the thought structure of the period in which İsmail Fennî lived has been revealed in general. It has been analyzed how he behaved in the intellectual atmosphere of his period. In particular, the intellectual infrastructure of his emergence with the objections and criticisms which he directed against the materialist understanding has been examined. In this study conducted within the scope of the thinker İsmail Fennî 's concept of God, the facts such as the evidence of God, His adjectives and names, the God-universe relationship within the framework of wahdat-i body and the God-human relationship have been dealt with as the main problems. The analysis and evaluation of his answers to several claims made by some thinkers posing a positivist approach to God have been made. From this point of view, the place and importance of İsmail Fennî in the history of Turkish thought have been tried to be determined.
