İsmâil Hakkı Bursevî's (d.1137/1725) Risâle-i Şem'iyye, Risâle-i Nefesü'r-Rahmân and Risâle-i Bahâiyye (Text-analysis-examination )

İsmâil Hakkı Bursevî (d.1137/1725), who lived in the second half of the seventeenth century and the first quarter of the eighteenth century, is one of the most famous sheikhs of the Jalwatiya order. Bursawî, who is especially famous for his tafsir Ruhûl- Beyan, has an important place in the Sufi tradition of the Ottoman period. Bursawī, who had a multifaceted personality, wrote works in many fields, especially Sufism. Risâle-i Sham'ıyye, Risâle-i Nefesü'r-Rahmân and Risâle-i Bahâiyye are his works in the field of Sufism. The first part of our study, which consists of an introduction, four chapters, and a conclusion, is devoted to Bursawī's life, tariqa, and his studied and unstudied works. In the second chapter, firstly, the manuscript copies of Risāla-i Sham'iyya were identified and the main copy that is the basis of the study was determined. Secondly, Ismail Hakki Bursawī's Sufi interpretations on concepts such as the soul and the nature of the soul, breath, divine breath and breath-i-rahmānī, wakāt, murshid-i-kāmī's gaze, light and types of light, classifications of ebrār, sābikūn, mukarrebūn, letāif-i hamse, ḥātm al-awliyā, state and maqām, mujāheda, professions and their Sufi projections are analyzed. The third chapter is on Ismail Hakki Bursawī's Risāla-i Nefesü'r-Rahmān. In this chapter, firstly, the manuscript copies of the treatise are included. Secondly, there are the Sufi explanations made by Ismail Hakkı Bursawī on Sufi topics such as nafil prayers, manners to be followed, the virtue of some special days and nights, human being, khilāfat-i zāhire, hashru al- ajsād, Hû dhikr, besmele-i sharīf and the name 'Abdurrahmān. In the fourth chapter, the manuscript copies of Risāla-i Bahāiyya are identified and the text that constitutes the basis for the translation is determined. In this section, besides the details of the dhikr inculcation written by Bursevî to his disciple Bahâeddin Efendi, his views on the difference between Ahl al-world, Ahl al-'ukba, tariqa, shaykh, mubâyaa, the verbal and actual dhikr and duties of the sâlik are included.
