Israel's Syria policy after the Arab Spring

This study examines the historical development of Israeli-Syrian relations and Israel's Syria policy after the Arab Spring. The main purpose of the study is to reveal how and at what level the Arab Spring and the Syrian Civil War caused a breaking point in Israel's Syria policy. In this respect, first of all, after the establishment of Israel, its bilateral relations with Syria are examined. Then, the dynamics that determine Israel's approach to the Arab Spring and its policy are defined and analyzed. In the following chapter, Israel's Syria policy implemented during the Syrian Civil War was subjected to a periodic categorization based on actors and actions. In this context, statements of Israeli soldiers, diplomats, politicians, and other statesmen were also utilized. With the main lines, this study seeks to answer the question of whether the Arab Spring or the Syrian Civil War was a significant turning point in Israel's ongoing Syria policy. For this purpose, in this study, at what stages and how Israel was involved in the Syrian Crisis, the red lines and reflexes of the Tel Aviv Administration in decision-making and implementation processes, and its relations with other actors playing a role in the Syrian Crisis were examined inclusively. Finally, three possible scenarios in Syria and Israel's possible political and military reactions to these scenarios are evaluated through actors, factors, and actions.
