Abstract (EN)
This thesis examines the relationship between unemployment and economic growth in Afghanistan and investigates the validity of Okun's Law in the context of the country. The main research driving this study is whether there exists a significant relationship between unemployment and economic growth in Afghanistan. The research methodology employed includes descriptive analysis and the implementation of the Auto-regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model. The findings from this research provide valuable insights into the dynamic between unemployment and economic growth in Afghanistan. The results reveal that there is a long-run relationship between unemployment and economic growth in Afghanistan. Furthermore, the estimation of the Okun's coefficient yields a value of -4.23, indicating that a 1% increase in unemployment is associated with a 4.23% decrease in economic growth. The findings contribute to the understanding of the economic conditions in Afghanistan and highlight the importance of addressing unemployment for sustained economic development.
