Abstract (EN)

The demand for energy, one of the basic needs of humanity; population growth is increasing with the industrial revolution, urbanization and technological development. As a result, the world has faced the problems of global warming and climate change. This problem affects all countries regardless of their level of development. Therefore, states are working to reduce the negative effects of energy on the environment and greenhouse gases released into the air. In this study, greenhouse gas inventory calculations were made in Sancaktepe District of Istanbul Province. As a result of the calculations, it has been determined that the highest share belongs to urban transportation vehicles with a tCO2e value of 572,979.96. Emissions arising from electricity consumption of residences are calculated as 295,780.71 tCO2e, and the contribution of commercial and corporate firms is calculated as 336,500,43 tCO2e. Greenhouse gas emissions were found to be 165,120,86 tCO2e from industry, 14,343.54 tCO2e from street lighting, and 3149,20 tCO2e from municipal building electricity, natural gas and vehicle fleet. In the light of these data, it was shed light on the determination of greenhouse gas reduction strategies in Sancaktepe district.
