Abstract (EN)

The Other One Concept in Existence Philosophy of Jean Paul SartreABSTRACT?The Other One? is a very important conception for the philosophy of ContinentalEurope. Individulaism increased by human affairs becoming more complicated in the modernsociety that appeared together with the transcending of the industrial society from the first halfof the twentieth century. In Continental Europe philosophy, first Nietzsche discussed the issueof being an individual intensely in his philosophy. Later on, all Kierkegaard, Heidegger…..Sartre have given great importance to individualism, and they considered the measure of beinga human or saying ?Yes I am living?, ?I lived? is dependent on one?s getting free of the valuesof the society he is living in and developing an authentic life of his own.In Sartre?s existantialist philosophy ?the other one is hell? and ?the other one? is a threatto the freedom of the individual. Getting over this threat is possible only by becoming isolatedand in this isolation forming re-existence without accepting any core reality about life. Hence, existence is a possibility. A possibility against whom? Against the other one?s view that dimsme, reduces me to an ordinary object and demolishes my world and re-forms it according tohis own conscious and view. Because, for the individual the existence of the other one is thegreatest obstacle to form his own life that should be got over. How will that getting over willbe possible? Sartre doesn?t give the answer to that question directly. However, the charactersin his novels expose how that will be got over with their choices. That will be possiblethrough forming an authentic life, commitment with the conscious of responsibility andfreedom. In the thesis the philosophical basis of the conflict between the individual and theother one, how Sartre displayed and explained these problems in context of the other one inexistence philosophy he formed in his works of literature and philosophy will be analysed.
