Examination of the adaptation of women to the postpartum period on life quality

Objective: Thepurpose of thestudy is toexaminetheeffect of adaptation of womentopostpartumperiod on life quality. MaterialandMethod: Thisstudy is a cross-sectionalresearch. Theresearchconductedwithwomen in the 4th and 6th week of puerperantwomenwhoappealedtothe Karşıyaka FamilyHealthCenters. Itwastriedtoreacheverysinglepuerperantwomanwithoutusinganysamplingmethod in theresearch (N:220). Sampling of theresearch is consistingfrom 201 puerperantwomen. Theparticipation rate totheresarch is detected as 91 %. Introductoryinformation form, postpartum self-assessmentscaleandpostpartum life qualityscalewereusedtocollectdata. Thenumber, percentagedistribution, averagevalues andthePearsoncorrelation test wereused in the SPSS 15.00 package program forevaluating of thedata. Findings: Theaverageage of women in theresearch is 32,52±4,84. Theaveragescore of postpartum self – assessmentscale of women is 121.65±33.18.It is foundthatthewomenwelladaptedtothepostpartumperiod. The total averagescore of life qualityscale of thewomen in postpartumperiod is found as 19,36±2,06. Thewomenhavemediumlevel life quality. Moderatelyinversesignificantcorrelation is foundbetweenthesub-dimensions of thepostpartum self-assessmentscaleandthe total score of thepostpartumquality of life scale. Highlysignificantinverserelationship is foundbetweenthe total score of thepostpartum self-assessmentscaleandthe total score of thequality of life scale (r: -0.68, p: 0.00). Conclusion: It is foundthatwomenwerewelladaptedtothepostpartumperiodandtheir life qualitywasmoderate. Also it is foundthatthe life quality of womengetspositiveimpactbyadaptation of thewomentothepostpartumperiod. Keywords: Postpartumperiod, adaptationtothepostpartumperiod, life quality.
