Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to isolate and identify the most common biofilm-forming uropathogens in women. This study was carried out by collecting 124 urine samples from women in different age groups and regions between October 2020 and March 2021 in a maternity and children's hospital in Iraq - Kirkuk . All isolated bacteria were subjected to biofilm assay and results displayed the prevalence of Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumonia as the most biofilm uropathogene in the samples. Then, all of the identified bacterial strains were subjected to antibiotic susceptibility test (AST) in order to determine the impact of biofilm formation on the antibiotic resistant pattern of the uropathogenic isolates. Two isolated strains of E. coli and K. pneumonia showed an increased biofilm activity. Therefore, they were subjected for molecular analysis in order firstly to confirm the characterization of the uropathogenes and secondly to detect the genes responsible for the biofilm formation. The two isolated strains showed two amplicons of product size of (1500 bp) of 16SrRNA gene sequence. In accordance, the two strains were registered in the NCBI under the accession number of MZ647704 for E. coli isolate, and MZ647716 for Klebsiella pneumoniae isolate. More over, two genes (fimH and mrkD) were suggested to be analyzed and gene detection procedure was carried out through DNA amplification of the genes. New trends in Antibiofilm Treatments like studies about Bacteriophages should be applied for further studies about biofilm treatment .
