Impact of development agencies on the regional development, the case of The Silkroad Development Agency

Inter-regional disparities is a common situation that exist in different levels according to the country. Most of the countries was unable to provide a balanced structure fully in development and has been forced to deal with regional disparities. To eliminate these regional disparities and to accomplish sustainable development, various models have been searched. As a result of these searches, development agencies is one of the tools that used to ensure regional development. In this study we examined the impact of development agencies on the regional development. After examination of regional policy and regional development agencies in the world, policies and agencies in Turkey were investigated. With the data about Silk-Road Development Agency's activities and grants, the effects of the regional development agencies to the regional development were investigated. As a result of this work, we decided that development agencies have undeniable benefits to the development of the region. They are also new institutions. After elimination of some defaults and with making some changes in their structures, the effect of agencies will increase. In this context, we decided that studies about the impact of the agencies are very important.
