Considering the Döşemealtı carpet, a cultural element of the Karakoyunlu Nomads, in the contexs of industrialization: The case of Antalya Döşemealtı

In this study, effects of the Döşemealtı rug business which is Nomades Legacy in the Kovanlık Neighborhood on industrialization and Karakoyunlu Nomade Tribe, belonging to Nomade tribes, cultural features was researched. Profound data was obtained through conducting semi-structured interview with 18 participants during area research in Antalya Kovanlık Neighborhood. The relation between the industrialization period and Döşemealtı rugs which is Döşemealtı nomade legacy was researched by emphasizing on Karakoyunlu Nomades subject, particularly Nomades Culture in this study. Besides that, basic information about the hypothesis, research method, and limitations of our study is given. Basic terms were the context of cultural sociology were included in the first part. Emphasized on main dynamic of our study through giving information about culture, subculture, and tangible culture. Culture effects on individuals and society are evaluated in the light of information which was obtained by literature search. In second part; information about cultural characteristics of Karakoyunlu Nomades which is one of Nomade tribes through giving basic information. As third part, effects on industrialization were evaluted through giving information about shapes and cultural motif features of Döşemealtı rugs that are cultural legacies of Karakoyunlu Nomades living in Döşemealtı region, and main dynamics which differentiate Döşemealtı rugs from another rugs. As a result in our thesis we observe that Döşemealtı rugs industry belonging to Karakoyunlu Nomades culture is tended to be forgotten through economic and social changes in society during industrialization.
