The İsrâîliyât in Shia commentary of the classical period

The introduction of Isrâîliyât into the Arab culture began with the settlement of the Ahl al-Kitâb (People of the Book) on the Arabian Peninsula and the relations with the Arabs. The fact that the Qur'an contains some narratives about the prophets and ancient tribes accelerated the exchange of information from the People of the Book. The fact that the Arabs are a illiterate society, the content of the stories of the Qur'an, the words and behaviors of the Prophet, the practices of the companions, tâbiîn and tâbi' al-tabi'în, the translation of the holy books, and the narrators' dependence on Israeli narratives were influential in the introduction of such narratives into Islamic culture and commentary. As in the Ahl al-Sunnah sources, there are many Israeli narrations in the Shi'ite sources. This situation is accepted by the Shi'ite scholars, but these rumors are claimed to be less. The Shi'ite scholars state that the attitudes of the Rashidun Caliphate and the Umayyad Caliphates are decisive in the transition of Isrâîliyât to Islam, and they see Ahl-i Sunnah as the gateway to Isrâîliyât. It can be thought that Shia's cautious approach to the Israeli narratives coming from the Ahl-i book scholars, Companions and tabiîn, and then its strict attitude about the ismat of Muhammed's successor ve its sectarian approach contributed to the relatively lesser Israeli narratives in the Shiite sources. However, in a comparison between the Ahl-i Sunnah and the Shiite narratives in the context of the Israeli narratives, it will be seen that the individuals on which these narratives are based (the innocent imams instead of the Companions and tabiîn) remain the text.
