Love in Kınalızade Ali Çelebi and Erich Fromm

In this study, the concept of love, about which many opinions are expressed from the history of humanity to the present, is discussed in the light of the views of Kınalızâde Ali Çelebi and Erich Fromm. In the introduction part of our study, we included the subject, problems, purpose, importance, method, scope and limitations of our thesis. In the second chapter, we examined Kınalızâde's views on love, and in the third chapter, Fromm's views on love in detail. In the last chapter, we made an evaluation by comparing Kınalızâde and Fromm's views on love. Kınalızâde examines love under the title of state administration and evaluates it as a virtue. By reconciling love with human being as a social being, he gives us clues about how love should be directed in human relations in social life. The type of love that we call spiritual love, which expresses the extreme state of "hayr", directs people to Allah and enables them to become one with Allah, the most competent. Fromm accepts love as an action. He likens the act of loving to arts that need to be learned theoretically and practically. Emphasizing that love does not happen all of a sudden, it happens over time, he emphasizes that many factors affect the act of loving. The human being is in a state with the mother in the womb, and this unity continues as a trend as long as the human being is born and continues his or her life. Kınalızâde and Fromm explain the concept of love by referring to many items. In this direction, we aim to reveal Kınalızâde and Fromm's views on love.
