Abstract (EN)

Acute appendicitis is one of the most common abdominal pathologies requiring emergency surgical intervention worldwide. Diagnosis of patients is made through clinical examination, laboratory tests, and imaging methods. Delays in diagnosis and treatment can lead to the transition of a patient from non-complicated appendicitis to complicated appendicitis. This transition ultimately results in increased risk of surgical site infection, length of hospital stay, and morbidity. The preoperative diagnosis of complicated appendicitis in acute appendicitis will determine our choice between surgical or conservative treatment options and influence our approach to the patient. In this study, we aimed to diagnose complicated or non-complicated appendicitis by examining patients who underwent surgery for acute appendicitis retrospectively, based on their preoperative clinical and laboratory parameters. We believe that this will enable the implementation of appropriate medical and surgical options.
