Evaluating cargo operations of the container terminal projects by using simulation method

With the effect of containerization, container terminals have gained an important role in the supply chain and entered a rapid development process. This situation has caused a great increase in container terminal investments. Port investments are capital intensive investments with slow returns. At this point investors feel the need for measuring the accuracy of their decisions in each level of the investment process. These decisions start with port opportunity analysis and also include selection of construction area, economical additive, financial analysis, port design and operational structure. In this study simulation method will be analyzed through a case in terms of analyzing the cargo operations of container terminal projects and determining the possible bottlenecks. At the same time this study carries out the literature review related to port management, cargo operations, port performance measurement and port simulations.
