Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to determine the tumor characteristics by comparing the Doppler indices determined via Doppler ultrasonography with the histopathology results of the patients referred to Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic with mammary tumor complaints. As the material of the study, a total of 61 tumors were used form different age groups (ranging from 2 to 16 years old) and various breeds (German Shepherd, Cocker, Poodle, Golden Retriever, English Setter, Kangal, Mix, Pekingese, Pointer, Terrier) of 48 female dogs which were admited to Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Materials, were evaluated Histopathologically after Doppler ultrasonographic examination. Tumors were diagnosed (Carcinosarcoma, Simple Carcinoma, Carcinoma Mixed type, Carcinoma Malignant Myoepithelioma, Solid Carcinoma, Adenosquamous Carcinoma, Complex Carcinoma, Comedocarcinoma, Osteochondrosarcoma, Inflamed Carcinoma, Benign Mixed Carcinoma, Benign Mixed Adenoma, Simplex Adenoma) after microscopic examinations. The results were compared with the histopathological findings postoperatively, and it was seen that Doppler indices were reliable in prediction of the malignancy of mammary tumors in dogs. In conclusion, it was determined that PSV and HR values (p<0.05), among other Doppler indices obtained from dogs, showed similarities to histopathological findings, and Doppler indices were valuable in prediction of tumor malignancy.
