Assessment of housing and its environment which designed within the scope of urban village project in terms of sustainable criteria, the example of Elazığ Sarıevler

The phenomenon of rapid urbanization, which emerged with industrialization and showed its effect in our country comes out positive and negative results. Increasing opportunities in the urban areas have triggered the migration from rural to cities and caused a decrease in agricultural and livestock activities in the country. Negative reflections like unplanned urbanization, environmental pollution, consumption of natural resources have also appeared in addition to these results. It has been tried to exchange the direction of the ongoing migration wave by conducting urbanization activities to rural districts, and to reduce the density in the urban areas. There was an intense migration in the 1980s especially in the Southeast and East districts because of security problems In Turkey. In addition to security problems, the urban village project, which was designed to reduce the rate of urbanization and increase production in urban districts, was implemented. For the members of the Beritan Tribe which is the Turkey's largest migrant tribe, within the scope of the urban village project, work has been started to convert the community to a settled lifestyle. Residences were built in the urban of the Elazig and Diyarbakir systems in 1981. 109 families that the members of the tribe who earn their living by farming and livestock selected from among 127 families who applied to the district of the Sarievler in the Cumhuriyet district of Elazig province were settled. Today the area that was far from the province center of Elazig when the houses were built has turned into a central area of the province and started to change with the increasing building. The region has started to be unable to respond to the needs of the householder of Sarievler over time. In this study, to understand the environmental, social and economic sustainability levels of householders of Sarievler and their surroundings in region of Sarievler, the inputs get by applying a survey to the users were supported by observations and interviews. Survey data were analyzed for SPSS 26. The drawings of the houses of Sarievler and the environment are explained. The new structuring, which will be prepared with the survey of data obtained from this research, will contribute to the improvement of the region in cultural, social and economic conditions. In addition, it will shed on light the improvement of the projects made with the urban village project and their inclusion in the province of Elazig.
