Credit cards, which replace money and local currency are commonly used in our daily lives and they are the most important aspect of individual banking. Many advantages such as; credibility, payment installments for shopping, cash replacement, are provided as services for individuals who owns credit cards. However, consumers are required to make good debt management considering the fact that they spend their future income in advance. Otherwise, careless expenditures cause harm not only to individuals but also to the national economy. Considering that most of the family members have at least one credit card, financial preferences of individuals are important for the national economy. The aim of the thesis study is to determine the factors affecting the rational use of credit cards. Data were collected by using a questionnaire. These data were analyzed by using 'SPSS for Windows v25.0' program. Frequency and chi-square analysis are used, as in accordance with the question types. It is measured whether there is a relationship between the independent variables such as age, gender, marital status, education levels, purpose of usage of the credit card and monthly credit card statement.
