A research on financial literacy of small industrial enterprises; Case of Kütahya province

It has become a necessity for individuals to improve their financial literacy skills in order to be able to control the diversity and complex situation of this spectrum and to sustain life with the increase in available financial products and services in the changing and developing current socioeconomic conditions. Having financial literacy skills; It is important in terms of predicting and eliminating financial problems and making a prosperous life sustainable. In this research, the concept of financial literacy, its necessity and importance, financial literacy studies in Turkey and the world, industry, industrial region types were researched. The importance of financial literacy and industry concepts and their contributions to humanity and individuals are explained. Within the scope of the study, the small sized enterprises in the Kütahya Industrial Zone were selected as the research universe and a survey was conducted by visiting the tradesmen with the convenience sampling method. Within the scope of the study, 208 participants were reached. In the study, the financial concept knowledge, financial instrument knowledge and financial literacy level of the participants were measured, and it was determined by the Independent T test and One-way variance (ANOVA) method whether they changed according to some demographic and financial variations used. It was observed that those who use incentives for their workers/employees and those who prepare a budget for the next year have a significantly higher level of financial concept knowledge, financial instrument knowledge and Financial literacy, while those who state that the sole proprietorship and Information Source about Incentives are their family are at a significantly lower level.
