Student perceptions towards global environmental problems: The case of Dicle University

This study aims to measure the perceptions of Dicle University students in Diyarbakır province towards global environmental problems. The students participating in the study were conducted on 672 randomly selected students studying at Dicle University. The survey data were collected within a 3-month period in the spring period of 2023-2024. The questionnaire form was prepared by taking into account the "Global Environmental Problems Perception Inventory" applied by Sakaci (2007). In the research, the 5-point Likert scale was used in the global environmental problems perception questionnaire. The data obtained in the study are SPSS.it was analyzed through 20 programs. As a result of the answers given by higher education students about their perceptions of global environmental problems, it was found that there was no significant difference in gender, age and grade points. On the other hand, it has been seen that at the department level of education, especially Dentistry, Turkish Language Literature, Physics, Business Administration and Accounting departments of Vocational School have an impact on the study. As a result of the study, it was emphasized that the perception of global environmental problems is insufficient, more steps should be taken in the name of environmental education, environmental awareness and environmental protection, and the need to raise society's awareness in order to leave a cleaner and better environment for future generations Jul. The importance of acting together with institutions and organizations in order to provide awareness of global environmental problems, spreading activities and movement plans in a wide area in order to provide social awareness, and contributing to the awareness of the next generations was emphasized.
