Abstract (EN)

Climate change is an issue that needs immediate attention to prevent its harmful effects. In the international arena, negotiations and meetings are going on endlessly to create collaboration between states to take the necessary precautions needed for solving the climate change problem. In this sense, environmental non-governmental organizations (ENGOs) play a role that needs to be assessed since their position as organizations that focuses on environmental issues is widely recognized. This study explains the ENGO influence in international environmental negotiations and their relationship with the policy-makers in these negotiations, and whether there is a significant difference, they make in the process. Analysis of two of the most notable ENGOs, Greenpeace and WWF, in terms of their structure and strategies with the analysis of the final documents of critical international negotiations such as the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement, the ENGOs' role and influence in the international environmental negotiations are explained. In conclusion, this thesis found out that ENGOs have a noticeable influence in creating awareness for climate change within the masses and taking part in some level in international negotiations with the help of their strategies. However, when it comes to implementing the necessary precautions, their influence somewhat weakens because of the hardships they face impacting states' internal policy-making mechanisms.
