Abstract (EN)
With globalization, the concept of the nation-state, "whose borders unite around the identity of a nation on a certain piece of land" is experiencing some transformations in terms of its ontological resources. These are basically; can be explained in the context of sovereignty, identity and security. Due to the economic, political and cultural consequences of globalization as well as its transboundary effects, the general acceptance of geographical discourse needs to be examined from different perspectives. Globalization and the transforming international system in this context reveal various elements that indicate the weaknesses of the normative aspect of the concept of the state. This study aims to evaluate the changes in the ontological sources of the state, geopolitical theories and the determinants of modernity from a critical perspective. In this context, the state, which is determined as the unit of analysis, is examined through the critical geopolitical method. The first part of the study consists of the emergence of the concept of the state, the development of the modern state, the structuring of the nation state and the postmodern understanding of the state. In the second part, the relationship between geopolitics and the state is discussed through critical geopolitical arguments. The third and final part focuses on the transformation of the state in the process of globalization within the framework of a critical view. As a result of the study, it has been determined that the nation-state structure, which is the main actor of the international system, has undergone geopolitical transformation in terms of its ontological resources during the globalization process.
