Effects of globalization on cities: Example of Tekirdağ

Despite the fact that the definition of globalization has not been met in a common pavilion, conclusions that correspond to the same meaning have been made as a result. Since it is directly related to our everyday life, it is possible to say that independent thinking alone is the influence of globalization on every field. Although the descriptions made in many academic researches differ, we can say that the assumptions made and the conclusions are close to each other. The cities that stand out on the world stand out as symbolic cities with their unique characteristics. Today's metropolises are getting a share of interaction in the globalizing world. Metropolitan cities are increasingly important because of the intense inter-city communication and the fact that trade is now among the cities called mega-cities instead of between countries. For this reason, continuation of the development in the metropolises must be continued and communication between the countries and the cities should be intensified.Istanbul metropolis, which is considered as the world city in our country, can be shown as the best example. The development of Tekirdağ, that is, the development of our city, which is close to Istanbul, must take place among the metropolitan cities and this must continue in the global world flow. With the intensification of globalization, Tekirdağ can be among the metropolises without staying away from this interaction. In this context, various explanations of globalization have been made and at the same time different dimensions of globalization have been dealt with. The city models that existed on the world are mentioned and they are portrayed as being explained through 2 major cities in our country. In the globalizing world, the effects of globalization on cities are studied through literature searches.
