Study is to define the problems, causes of this problems and suggestions for problem managing related with skills training in the business on school-industry cooperation for senior students

The purpose of this study is to define the problems, causes of this problems and suggestions for problem managing related with skills training in the business on school-industry cooperation for senior students who are enrolled at the department of Hand Crafts in Girl Vocational High School (GVHS). Below questions were searched: 1. What are the personal qualifications of GVHS Hand Crafts Department's students and coordinator teachers? 2. What are the opinions of the GVHS Hand Crafts Department's coordinator teachers and senior students about the problem? 3. What are the opinions of the GVHS Hand Crafts Department's coordinator teachers and senior students causes of these problems ? 4. What are the opinions of the GVHS Hand Crafts Department's coordinator teachers and senior students solutions ways related with skills training of the students in the business? 5. Is the any significant relationship between the opinions of coordinator teachers and senior students about the problem which are encountered by the students on skills training in the business? The population of this study was consist of GVHS Hand Crafts coordinator teachers and the senior students who are enrolled at the departments of Hand Crafts in GVHS of Ministry of National Education in Ankara during 1997-1998 school year. All coordinator teachers (n=50) and all senior students (n=87) who have been attending to the business for skills training were included to this study.124 Questionnaire was used to gather information. Questionnaire was consist of Form I for coordinator teachers and Form II for senior students. This questionnaire was applied to this sample by the researcher and reliability study was done for 39 questions. Cronbh Alpha was found.86. Questionnaire forms was applied 50 Hand Crafts coordinator teachers and 87 senior students. Finding were analyzed by SPSS Computer Program. Depending on the variable type, mean, standard deviation, frequencies, percentiles and / Test were used to analyze findings. Significant level was established at.05. The results of this research indicated that more than half of the coordinator teachers were working as a teacher during 8-11 years and 16 and more years. 2 on 3 of these teachers were graduated form University. 50 percent of the coordinator teachers were graduated from Decorative Furnishing and Flowers Department. 74% of these teachers were worked as a coordinator teacher in the part, 26% of there are still working as coordinator teacher. More than half of the coordinator teachers did not attend any courses about their task and it was seen that,they need to in working education about in order, educational planning in business, providire, coordinating among school, working place and students, explaining needing criteria's on determining working place and evaluating students. About choosing the business, it was observed that coordinator teachers encountered less problems if they were directed and they encountered with problems in moderate degree when they were directed by the school administrators. On the communication, it was determined that in moderate degree problems were encountered on getting required help when presenting the problems to manager or expert trainer. Moderate degree problems were obtained on reinforcing the skills which are related the job in the business and providing incomplete information. Moderate degree problems were determined about free behaving for the students in business milieu, on clothing, on paying attention cleaning and maintains in working place, on aspiration, lighting and heating, on healthiest of workers and job accident, and on job satisfaction and staying to work in the same business.125 According to the coordinator teachers, causes of the problems on skills training are lacking working place on each program (n=48), sending insufficient students to the business (n=31), not permitting to operate the machines by the students because owners of the business hesitate that working machines would be damaged (n=48), being differences between school instruments and work instruments (n=37), not suitable working hours in business (n=33), and insufficient payments. Causes of the problems, according to the students are anxiety of the managers on that production would be delayed (n=32), thought on that machine, instruments would be out of order (n=42), long distance of work place (n=33), and sometimes nothing or insufficient payment (n=47). About solution ways, coordinator teachers were advised that students were not being worked except their job in the business (n=32), machines, instruments in the business were allowed to be used by the students (n=37), and payments should be increased (n=43). On solution ways, the students were suggested that the information of skills training should be gives before (n=37), applications in the working place should be introduced and required guidance would be given (n=33), operating of machines and instruments should be allowed (n=32), as a students, nobody has to work on weekends (n=36), and payments should be better (n=41). With respect to results of this research, following suggestions would be given. Coordinator teacher and students should decide together about choosing business. Not much students should be given to coordinator teachers. Good enough guidance should be given to students. Expert trainer should be trained. For skills training modern business should be preferred. Student payments should be increased.
