Abstract (EN)

In this study, in which we analyzed Leibniz's views on the relationship between reason and faith; explaining the problematic of reason and faith as a problem of philosophy of religion, we discussed philosophically how the relationship between reason and faith is studied. In this context, we explained that there are three types of approaches and these are: (1) fideism leaving the reason aside and doesn't allow a space for the reason within the field of faith, (2) rationalism defending the importance of reason and that it is at the center of the field of faith, (3) and critical rationalism trying to reconcile faith with reason. Leibniz, on the other hand, seems to be closer to strict rationalism than these approaches. However, this approach of him is peculiar to his philosophical system; a unique and rational approach. According to Leibniz; the reason has eternal truths. The field of faith also complies with these truths. Therefore, faith and reason do not conflict. There are also truths of faith that go beyond our reason. But, these truths of faith are never opposed to reason. In fact, no truth of faith contradicts reason. According to Leibniz; Faith is love. It is a love obtained by knowing God, taking its light from the reason. The righteous life in accordance with the love of God, the most competent being, is true piety. In this context, we tried to convey the relationship between reason and faith. Key Words: Mind, Faith, Rationality, Fideism, Freedom, Theodicy
