Lise 10. sınıf öğrencilerinin bilişsel stilleri arasındaki farklılıkların akademik başarı, eğitimsel uzmanlaşma alanı ve cinsiyet açısından incelenmesi (Gaziantep ili örneği)

The study was carried out in Gaziantep in order to analyze the differences among the 10th grade students' cognitive styles in terms of academic success, academic specialization and gender. The sample of the study was drawn randomly from the whole population. The disproportionate sampling method in cluster sampling methods was used in the selection of the sample. Two highschools from each Şehitkâmil and Şahinbey district were chosen randomly as the sample. The cognitive styles of the students were determined with the use of the ?Learning Styles Inventory? designed by Kolb in 1984. In order to determine the acedemic success of the students, the average of the students' grades given throughout the 9th year was used. Upon the analysis of the data, it was found that there were significant differences among the students'cognitive styles in terms of academic success and academic specialization. However no significant difference was observed in the cognitive styles of 10th grade students in terms of gender.Key words: Cognitive styles, Academic success, Academic specialization, Gender
