Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to determine the physical fitness levels of female high school students studying in Erzurum province and to examine their obesity tendencies. 1069 volunteer students from Nenehatun Female Anatolian High School, Rabia Hatun Female Anatolian Imam Hatip High School, Hamidiye Vocational and Technical Female Anatolian High School participated in the study. Parents of students under the age of 18 who participated in the test were asked to sign the informed consent form, and 18-year-old students were asked to sign the informed consent form. Participants were administered anthropometric measurements, plate tapping, 10 × 5 m shuttle run, standing long jump, hanging on the bar, sit-ups, flexibility, handgrip strength, flamingo balance test and 20 m shuttle run test. The tests were carried out in Nenehatun Female Anatolian High School gymnasium. SPSS 22.0 package program was used for statistical analysis of the obtained findings. Descriptive statistics for the data are given as mean and standard deviation. The normality assumption is tested using the coefficient of variation. For the normally distributed data, one-way ANOVA and Tukey HSD tests were used. Mann-Whitney U test test was used in two-group comparisons, and Kruskal-Wallis H test was used to compare more than two groups where the data was not normally distributed. Relationships between variables were examined using Pearson and Spearman Correlation tests where appropriate. Regression analysis was used to examine the relationships between physical fitness performances and anthropometric data and BMI values. According to the findings obtained from the performance measurements in the study, it was found that the physical fitness levels of the participants were low, body mass index values were normal and obesity tendencies were low. It was concluded that there was a relationship between individuals' weight and their physical fitness performances, and the increase in BMI negatively affected their agility, strength, muscle endurance, balance and aerobic fitness levels.
