The mediating role of career decision-making self-efficacy in the relationship between future orientation and career adaptability in high school students

Abstract (EN)
This research is a descriptive study in relational screening model, which aims to examine the mediating role of career decision-making self-efficacy in the relationship between future orientation and career adaptability in high school students. The research group was carried out with a total of 414 students, 290 girls and 124 boys, attending the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades in a total of six high schools located in the central districts of Osmaniye. The age range of the participants is between 14 and 18 years old. In the study, data on the future orientations of adolescents were determined by the 'Vision about Future Scale' (Ginevra vd. , 2017), data on career adjustment by the 'Career Adapt-Abilities Scale' (Savickas and Porfeli, 2012), career decision-making self-efficacy. Data on the subject were obtained by using the 'Career Decision-Making Efficiency Scale' (Bozgeyikli, 2004) and the data on personal information was obtained by using the 'Personal Information Form' prepared by the researcher. Pearson Product Moments Correlation and Structural Equation Modeling were used in the analysis of the research data. According to the results of the research, it has been seen that future orientation, career adaptability, career decision-making self-efficacy are all in a positive and significant relationship with each other. According to the Structural Equation Model results used in the research, it was determined that future orientation significantly predicted career adaptability. In addition, it has been observed that self-efficacy for career decision making has a partial mediating role in the relationship between future orientation and career adaptability.
