Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to emphasize the importance of epics in regard to language, literature, and art at tenth grades Turkish Language and Literature education and how epic teaching takes place to high school textbooks is determined to this subject with a critical view.Participants of the study were in-service Turkish Language and Literature teachers who are working at secondary schools located in city of Ankara in 2011-2012 school year.The study was designed as a survey research. It is aimed to determine teacher approaches intended to utilization of epic in the tenth grade Turkish Language and Literature course.256 Literature teachers from the schools were chosen according to ?Convenience Sampling? method in 8 counties located in the city of Ankara. Acquired data analyzed using chi square test with SPSS 15.0 packet program and by considering ?= .05 relevance level. Results showed that it was not found any significant difference in accordance with teacher views, gender, type of school, teacher job seniority and school degree regarding epic texts (t=.868, p > .05) and use of epic texts upon course textbooks (t=-.702, p > .05) to tenth grade Turkish Language and Literature.Keywords: Turkish Literature Education, epic, epic teaching, teacher views.
