Performance measurement in logistics firms: Single score balanced score card and markov chain analysis

International trade and logistics have co-developing nature. Increased the international increases logictics activities. Globalization blurred of national boundaries and lowered barriers in customs which causes excessive increase in international trade and logistics industry activities as a reason. Developments around logistics gained attention globally and the performance of countries are estimated by especially World Bank Logistics Performance Index (LPI) and different indices. The performance drivers are quality of insfrastucture, efficiency of customs, the frequency within scheduled or expected delivery times which performed by the country mostly. The logistics firm performance issue arises if looked more closely. Better the logistics firm performance, better the overall logistics industry and better country performance indices. In this way it was obtanied two scores (decreasing and increasing). In this study, firstly standart Balanced Score Card (BSC) was applied to a third party logistics (3PL) firm. Secondly, many measurement scores of firm's BSC reduced into a single score. To do so, a survey was applied to industry professionals and academicians who study logistics and Analytic Network Process (ANP) is performed to estimate the weight of measurement variables. Thirdly, in order to estimate the probablity of reaching expected performance target score, Markov Chains was performed. As a result of the analysis the firms expectations on the 90% and over timely delivery rate can be obtained with the probablity of 84 %.
