Education and educational institutions in Aleppo province at the beginni̇ng 20th century According to Education Yearbooks

Education is an important field that reveals the specific talents of cultures and civilizations. Even though it is a complicated subject, the societies should be conscious of the effect of education or have to come to consciousness because of their careful study. For this reason, changes have been made in the field of education such as old institutions and institutions that can not meet the needs of the society or attempts have been made to replace them completely. In the Ottoman Empire, after a certain period of time, The renovation works have been started in the education institutions that lost their functions. It seems that these reform efforts have only accelerated after the Tanzimat period. It can be said that attempts to modernize have intensified in the period of II. Abdulhamid, and these practices have also been tried to be realized in the field of education. Although it can not be said that every initiative has been successful, it is seen that they caused some changes and developments in the field of education. In this study, the education activities and educational institutions at the beginning of the 20th century of Aleppo which was in the province of the Ottoman State, were investigated in various ways with the help of the records of the education yearbooks records. This study consists of two parts. The first part gives general information in order to clarify the subject. İn the part, the development of the Ottoman State education system, the development process, the developments in this period and the general situation of primary, secondary and higher education have been explained. İn the second the state of education and educational institutions in the Aleppo province at the beginning of the 20th century have been tried to be analyzed with the help of the obtained tables, figures and graphics which derived from educational yearbooks dated 1898-1903. The aim of the study is to give information about the education and educational institutions of Aleppo Province at the beginning of 20th century in the light of the yearsbooks records. The study includes Maraş, Urfa and Aleppo sanjaks and twenty districts connected to the province of Aleppo. It has been tried to produce detailed information about the qualitative and quantitative of the educational institutions and educational institutions of considered regions.
