Abstract (EN)

The aim of this thesis is to investigate the bond performance of basalt fiber reinforced composite bar in normal strength concretes commonly used in the construction industry. In the study, the bond relation of the basalt fiber reinforced composite bar with normal concrete of C30 class which is widely used in the sector is investigated and compared with standard steel reinforcement. In experimental stage, two different diameters as 8 mm and 12 mm and two different embedment lengths as 10 ø and 20 ø were used as variable parameters. When determining the bond relationship between concrete and reinforcing bars in the study, hinged beams representing the concrete-reinforcement relationship in reinforced concrete buildings in accordance with the actual behavior were used. As a result, basalt fiber reinforced composite bars showed better bond performance than steel rebar. It is seen that basalt fiber reinforced composite bars can be preferred by using lower diameter and lower embedment length in structural systems where steel corrosion is a serious problem. In addition, the tensile test on the reinforcing bars showed that basalt fiber reinforced composite bars were failed with brittle behavior. The lack of ductility of basalt fiber reinforced bars must be taken into consideration in projects where these equipment is used.
