Abstract (EN)

The fact that Dibra has a very old historical origin shows that it is a unique place. Dibra, besides its cultural background, educational tradition, economics, high trade volumes and prestigious appearance almost always encountered various wars and rebellions throughout history. Dibrans have always held a very important position in the eyes of other folks. The most important features that make them so popular among others were their hard work and perseverance. All these features have been quite a factor for the Dibrans to preserve their own language. The Great Dibra City is known as a place open to culture, education and trade, while the Little Dibra was known as a more mountainous place with relatively isolated people. Until the Balkan Wars, while the region was under the Ottoman rule, there was only Dibra City, but later on after the 1913 Berlin Treaty, Dibra has been divided between Albania and former Yugoslavia (The region known as the North Macedonia Republic today). When the Dibra Region was conquered by Ottomans in the second half the 14th century, Turks were settled in the Dibra Region which led to the beginning of a centuries long relationship between the Albanians, hence Albanian language and Turks and the Turkish language. Language interactions between Turkish and Albanian during the long Ottoman rule have certainly led to code copying. In our study, we scrutinized the code copying samples or quatations which passed from Turkish, a language survied as the socially and culturaly dominant language for long centuries to Albanian. In this study, code copying data from Turkish to Dibra Dialects were conducted not only from local texts, but also from the texts of the sources gained via the interviews in the field at the same time. The garnered records from these interviews are turned into texts and also transcribed according to the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) rules. Then, these data were examined thoroughly compared with both sides of Dibra, thus diversities and similarities between the Great Dibra and Little Dibra.
