Abstract (EN)
Aim: This study aims to determine the burnout and physical activity levels of healthcare professionals serving in our hospital and their relationship. Materials and Methods: Our study is a cross-sectional study. The study included two hundred ninety-four people serving at Manisa Celal Bayar University Hafsa Sultan Hospital. Research data were collected between 10 November 2021 and 10 February 2022. As data collection tools, the Maslach Burnout Scale, International Physical Activity Questionnaire, and a sociodemographic form developed by the research team with 47 questions were used. Results: 63.9% of the participants included in the study were female, and 36.1% were male, with a mean age of 29.40±6.39 (min:19, max:58). Emotional exhaustion and depersonalization sub-dimension were higher in physicians and nurses and those working in the unit related to COVID-19 (p<0.05). 13.9% of the participants in our study have sufficient physical activity levels. Physical activity level was higher in single participants (p<0.05). It was determined that there was no significant relationship between the burnout status of the participants and their physical activity levels (p>0.05). Conclusion: In our study, burnout levels of physicians and nurses were found to be higher than other healthcare professionals. Employees serving in units related to COVID-19 were found to be more exhausted. The physical activity level of the health workers participating in our study was low. Working conditions should be improved, and psychological and economic support should be provided to reduce the burnout of health workers. To increase the physical activity level of health workers, it may be beneficial to develop sports opportunities in and around the hospital.
