Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of the study was to evaluate the content of prenatal care services provided by family physicians and gynecology specialists in Kiziltepe district of Mardin province. Materials and Methods: The population of this descriptive cross-sectional study consisted of 2564 pregnant women enrolled in family medicine units in Kızıltepe district of Mardin province in April 2017. Sample calculating the prevalence of prenatal care in Turkey (89%) was used. The sample size was determined by stratified sampling and calculated as 142. The questionnaire was composed of questions including sociodemographic, obstetric characteristics of pregnant and services performed in PC. Data were collected by face-to-face interview and informed consent was obtained from the pregnant woman. The data were evaluated by using SPSS package program. Percentage distributions, mean values were calculated and Chi-square and Ficher-Exact tests were used to evaluate the data. Results: The mean age of the pregnant women was 29.28 (± 6.944) and 37.3% (n = 53) of them were illiterate. While 97.2% of pregnant women weight and blood pressure were measured, 98.6% of family physicians performed blood tests. gynecology specialists listened to the heart sounds of 98.3% of the pregnant women and 92.6% of them performed ultrasound examination. The rates of vitamin D supplementation were 91.4% in ASM, public hospitals and private health care institutions; 53.3%; While it is 52.2%, it is 73% in total. Conclusion: The institutions providing ANC prioritized physical examination, drug support, immunization, testing and laboratory services. Family physicians are more successful in communication than gynecology specialists. (P <0.001). Family physicians are more concerned with physical examination, immunization and iron supplementation. while gynecology specialists prioritized the EQS examination, the most appropriate way of delivery information, and planning where the delivery would take place. In order to make PC monitoring more homogeneous and to improve its quality, it may be beneficial to have PC services regularly receive in-service trainings and to monitor and evaluate them at regular intervals.
