The causes of mathematics anxiety and the effect of teacher's gender on this situation

The aim of this study is to determine the factors effecting students' attitudes towards mathematics lesson and the gender of the teacher on this situation and especially to consider the causes of mathematics anxiety. The universe of the study consisted of 129 students 75(58.1%) of whom were girls and 54 (41.9%) of whom boys were attending primary schools in the 6th grade of 2018-2019 education year. The data obtained from the research were analyzed by SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) Package Program. Two-part survey technical was used as the data collection tool. The first part of the questionnaire is the personal information form to determine the demographic characteristics of the students while the second part is the Math Attitude Scale used to determine the student attitudes towards mathematics course. As a result of the analysis of the data obtained from the study, it was observed that the students' attitudes towards mathematics course were moderate. Again, as a result of the statistical analysis of the male students, those who expressed that they liked the mathematics lesson, who expressed that the teacher is satisfied with the presentation of the mathematics lesson, those who stated that their parents were not threatened by the grade of mathematics lesson, those who lived in the county, those living in the district, It was observed that the attitudes towards mathematics lesson were significantly more positive. It was observed that the attitudes of the people living in the district towards the mathematics lesson were significantly more positive. It was observed that the gender of the teacher did not have a significant effect on the attitudes towards mathematics course.
