Maurice Merleau-Ponty's contribution to the phenomology of phenomenology of perception

Maurice Merleau-Ponty's phenomenology, which is located within the context of existential phenomenology, carries the term body-subject to the tradi-tion of philosophy. Merleau-Ponty begins his research by investigating how me-aningful integrity is perceived in the perceived world, and his work The Pheno-menology of Perception rises on two fundamental problems. In the existential phenomenology of Merleau-Ponty, which places the problem of perception and the notion of body at the center of his research, the notion of body has a privile-ged place, but it is also of primary importance in Merleau-Ponty's original app-roach with surprising findings. The aim of this study is to examine the contribu-tion of Merleau-Ponty's phenomenology to perception in terms of the phenome-non of perception and body term. In the first part, the processes that lead Mer-leau-Ponty to the phenomenological approach are discussed in order to unders-tand Merleau-Ponty's questioning and to observe its effects on the way of thin-king. In this section, the philosophical views of Descartes and Husserl, in which Merleau-Ponty's critical thinking relationship will continue throughout his wor-king life, and the effects of these views on Merleau-Ponty's pheneomenology and the qualities that make Merleau-Ponty existential phenomenologist are examined. In this section, Descartes' views of mind-body dualism and Husserl's view of re-ducing the fact to essence are discussed. The second part consists of the questio-ning of the phenomenon of perception in the The Phenomenology of Perception, which is influential in Merleau-Ponty's direction of research. Merleau-Ponty's perception-related concepts, which establish the philosophical foundations of Gestalt psychology and develop the relationship of sensation with the integrity of perception based on the figure-fund relationship of Gestalt theory, were investi-gated. The third and final chapter examines how Merleau-Ponty reached the notion of "body-subject" dualism, based on the critiques of idealist, materialist and dualist ontologies, and the findings of the Schneider problem, examining the notions of "phenomenal body "and" living body" phantom organ phenomena ontology. Merleau-Ponty's The Phenomenology of Perception contributed to the phenomenological approach in that it produced new terms through the study of the phenomenon of perception through philosophical inquiry and the establish-ment of body ontology.
