An investigation of the different point of views of state and municipal educational institutions who give widespread music education.

This research was done with the aim of determining the status of some state and municipal educational institutions who give music education by evaluating different variables ( personel qualities of directors, teachers and student of institutions qualities of musıc education, success of institutions and the music education). With this aim, these institutions and the people who take these courses formed the population of this study. The sample of the study comprised the students who were chosen from these institutions in the central districts of Ankara. However, while we could not determine the exact number of courses belonging to Ministry of Education, we took pains to choose equal number of students from these two different institutions and we tried to choose enough number of students to be compared. We searched for literature, thesis and studies about this subject before we collected the data. We constructed two different open- ended questionnaires as one of the qualitative research methods, and also prepared questionnaires as one of the quantitative methods. The personal data obtained from the questionnaires were statistically evaluated by using descriptive statistics (frequency and percentage tables). We used the qi-square test to compare the sufficiency of the institutes belonging to both the Ministry of Education and the municipalities as well as the people who had been attending them. In conclusion, we found that some institutions are not able to achieve their mission and vision and teachers could not fulfill their expectations. After evaluating the data obtained from interviews with the teachers and questionnaires prepared for the students, we found that the institutions belonging to Ministry of Education were more successful than the ones belonging to municipalities and they both have some problems with their physical conditions. Since this study was done for determining the recent status of the institutions, we did this research very generally. We suggest that such kind of studies should be done more in-depthly (by investigating of every step of education which has been giving by the institutions).
