Gene expression of TRPM 2 in bladder cancers

Abstract (EN)

The frequency of bladder cancer in the Southeast Anatolian Area is higher than the others. According to the genomic imaging studies related to the bladder cancer, it seems that there is a serious chromosomal losts in the 21q locus. It was observed that one of these genes in this locus is the TRPM2 gene. Depending on these researches, the relationship between the TRPM2 gene expressions in the bladder cancer was studied. This work, in the department of Urology in Faculty of Medicine in the University of Gaziantep, out of 28 diagnosed bladder cancer patients, normal and tumor tissues were taken via surgery. As fort he mRNA expression of the TRPM2 gene, RT-PCR technique and for the evaluation, agarose gel imaging system were used. In the cases of the TRPM2 gene bladder cancer, much less expressions were observed. Out of 28 patients, expressions were not observed in 22 of them. Even if it was low, expressions were spectated in 6 of them. In these patients, 3 of them showed low, 1 normal end 2 showed high expressions. The decrease of the expressions level of the TRPM2 gene, the deterioration of the control of the cell cycle and proliferation in the bladder cancer tissues, and in the results, the non-operating apoptosis would be a results of the development of the cancer. The distribution of intracellular of TRPM2 and other member of TRPM family and the revealing of the functions in the bladder cancers tissues would provide a better understandings of the development of TRPM2 bladder cancers.
