Abstract (EN)
In this study, employment and curriculum problems of the technicians graduated from the departments of construction technology of various Vocational Schools of Higher Education both in the University of Gaziantep and other universties in Türkiye were researched. An overwhelming majority of the technicians being employed in the sector are graduates from Vocational Schools of Higher Education supported by the Technician Training Project of World Bank. Among these graduates, technicians graduated from Gaziantep Vocational School of Higher Education are in majority. While the graduate technicians can find job easily, almost all of them have been employed in the jobs related to their field of study. Technicians mostly being employed in private sector are paid low salaries. For this reason, the rate of changing job in this group is remarkably high. While the rate of membership to the Association of Construction Technicians which is a vocational foundation of the technicians is pretty much low, most of the technicians have no information even on the existence of that association. No meaningful relation was found between the type of vocational institution which technicians were graduated (i.e. Vocational Schools of Higher Education conducted by Technicians Training Project of World Bank and others) from and the issues among the technicians such as, the rate of employment, the level of paid salary; the rate of membership to the Association of Construction Technicians, professional status, and the curriculums being applied.
