Accounting education in vocational schools and its restructuring according to the business world's expectations

Developed countries meet the needs of required labor force within the business world through vocational education methods which they form according to their own internal dynamics as well as by taking advantage of international experiences. For that purpose, the countries in the world are applying three different systems: countries applying education based on the university- sector collaboration, the ones applying just school based education, and countries which adopted both apprehension but also being constantly in search of. The recent system in Turkey is the one, which is mostly based on the theoretical education.The business worlds? expectations from vocational schools and the problems they face in Turkey are tried to be determined with this survey in our study. We can list these problems as; imperfect knowledge of workers, outdated study contents, inadequate training, lack of adaptation from graduates, poor updating on information of tutors and insufficient relation in between university-industry-sector.As a need of the expectations of the business world and modern accounting education, we are aiming to improve graduate students? knowledge and capability by restructuring the education on accounting, so that they can be up to the challenge in the business world. To be able to achieve this accounting education, the structure of the management, building a career planning centre, choosing the right students, the positions of the tutors, techniques of training and teachings, application of the apprenticeship, and lastly university- sector collaboration are handled in harmony and studied in this work. With these indicated factors, accounting education will be able to reach an effective position and modern level, and successfully train accountants whom will meet the needs of our country. Furthermore, this education will be giving in vocational schools, which will train accountants and they will improve the competitive power in business.
