n ABSTRACT MASTER THESIS The Occupational Standards In Technical And Vocational Education And The Importance And The Impact Of It In The Adoptation Process To European Union (The Sample Of Motor Renovation Occupational Branch) MURAT TUNCER FTRAT UNTVERCITY ISTTTUDE OF SOCIAL SCIENCES DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION SCIENCE 2003-PAGE: Vffl+145 In our age, as a result of rapid change period there has been an intense competition and in a accordance with there has raisen a need for high qualified workforce. Vocational and technical education has an important function to train this qualified manpower. Nowadays mat the diplomas or certificates have reached to a certain standard as a consequence of vocational training, in other words mat training is realized in accordance with the occupational standards determined, is an issue which the developed countries well on. Among these are the European Union countries, which make significant studies about occupational standards In our country, which aims to be a member of European Union, some studies as to occupational standards particularly in Turkish Employment Organization (ÎŞKUR) are conducted as well. The aim of this research is to determine the studies about occupational standards in Turkey, to evaluate this studies in the view of harmony to European Union and to determine the motor renovation occupational standard that ÎŞKUR has prepared in view of the highest class students in Industrial Vocational High School and motor teachers and in view of the students as trainees in institutions and experts. Vocational technical secondary education motor branch highest class students, teachers and experts in institutions in Regions with Development Priority (KÖY), in Normal Regions (NY), Developed Regions (GY) which are in cities chosen according to the development level and occupational standards prepared by İŞKUR form the essence of the study. The development situation of cities which have motor branches and schools with enough students according to the data of The State Planning Organization (DPT) has been examined as a sample. Thus group sampling method has been carried out and three groups have been determined in accordance with each development level. As a result the group's sample has been formed with the attendance of 521 teachers, 540 students and 142 experts from 14 KÖY, 13 NY and 6 GY cities. The data have been collected by means of the survey that has been formed as a result of motor renovation occupational standards five stages Likert sort of survey prepared by İŞKUR in addition to literature scanning. The findings obtained after the study are as follows:. A difference between students and teachers and experts about motor renovation vocational standards has been determined.. The students available in this study with the related agabeylities have found themselves quite efficient and partly efficient, whereas teachers and experts have viewed as partly efficient and efficient.. In the KÖY the highest class students who practised in institutions in motor branch have found themselves more efficient in comparison to the students who practised in schools, whereas the students who practised in schools in NY and GY have found themselves more efficient.. In is determined that high technology equipment isn't available in schools and institutions. Such suggestions should be made according to the findings carried out:. More comprehensive definitions and practice are needed about vocational standards.. The available infrastructure and training activities should be taken into consideration when the vocational standards are determined.. We should try to provide the equipment which are lacking and thus reach the expected abilities from individuals.. The defects in institution which are determined about vocational training should be removed immediately..
