Abstract (EN)

Aim: In this study, patients who underwent mitral valve replacement, preoperative pulmonary function tests detected by obstruction of the airway, and postoperative entubation time and prolonged intensive care unit stay was investigated. Material and Method: In our clinic, between January 2011 and December 2014, with mitral valve replacement,62 consecutive patients were included in the study. All patients gender, presence of systemic disease, smoking, pulmonary function tests, ejection fraction, pulmonary artery pressure, peroperative cardiopulmonary bypass and aortic clamp time, postoperative intubation time, intensive care unit length of stay, pre-operative and post-operative aspartate aminotransferases, alanine aminotransferases, serum urea nitrogen, creatinine, arterial blood gas values recorded were. Findings: Total of 62 patients, 36 were female and 26 were male. In 17 of the patients had a smoking history. In 47 patients had systemic disease. 9 of them asthma, 8 of them chronic obstructive pulmonary disease was diagnosed. İntensive care unit staying time, 12 patients with respirotary disease were significantly lower than 50 patients without respirotary disease(p<0,05). İntensive care unit staying time, 8 patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease were significantly lower than non - Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease patients(p<0,05). İntensive care staying time, 10 patients with medication use were significantly lower than 52 patients without medication use(p<0,05). Significantly positive correlattion existed between İntensive care staying time and post-operative renal function indicators(p<0,05). Significantly negative correlation existed between entübation time and forced expiratory volume in the first second (p<0,05). Conclusions: Patients who underwent mitral valve replacement with cardiopulmonary bypass, preoperative airway obstruction assessments will provide post operative decreased mechanical ventilation requirement and decreased prolonged hospitalization.
