Modern historiography of Islamic philosophy: The example of T. J. De Boer

The subject of thesis consists from T. J. De Boer's thoughts on Islamic philosophy. De Boer has been approached with a Orientalist view to Islamic philosophy and as a result, he showed a biased attitude. It can be said that the political climate of his time is effective in getting critical and inadequate attitude against Islamic philosophy. When we consider our subject, in the historical perspective we are faced with two basic pre-judge who ruled that era; The first of these, stemming from racial discrimination and Arabs are far philosophy, the philosophy is the conviction that they could not understand the true meaning. The second bias is showing all the science in the form of the work and products of ancient Greek and, called them as the Greek miracle. Accordingly this, the Western all taken, culture and knowledge from Greek civilization and Islamic philosophy do nothing more than transfer to the West with the Greek philosophy by interpretation and translation.
