Abstract (EN)

Portrait is a type of art that depicts a person's appearance, character, identity, existence and life in various forms. The portrait from, which took its first steps within the boundaries of painting art from the distant stages of history, acquires new expression possibilities with the times when modernism gained momentum. One of the means of expression in question is literatüre. Literature gives rise to the literary portrait, the more elaborate variant of the modern language of the genre. Literary portrait, on the other hand, brings the portrait-poetry style, which it has derived from its own body and which has a high accumulation in terms of visuality and symbolism, to the art scene. The Turkish literary portrait, which has not yet matured enough to produce independent works in the failed of prose, creates a grwoing trend, a corpus, in the context of verse. Turkish portrait poetry movement, which started to be visible in the eyes of Namık Kemâl during the Tanzimat era, experiences its most productive periods in the last instance. In this thesis, XIX. century XX. in this study, it is aimend to determine and analyze the Turkish portrait poems written in the time period until the end of the century. İn addition to portrait poems, the study also focuses on the terminology and developmental trends of portrait painting and literary portrait genres.
