Molla Nepes’in “Zöhre-Tahır Dessanı” Üzerinde Dil ve Biçem (Üslup) İncelemesi

The story of Tahir and Zuhre has an important place in Turkish folk tales. In this thesis, the text "Zöhre-Tahir" which was written by the classical Turkmen poet Molla Nepes with his distinctive style has been studied in terms of language and style. During the literature review, it was found that there is no study which examines the language and style of this text. Turkmen Turkish is a dialect of Oğuz group of Turkish language. Also, Turkmens used Chaghatay as a written language and Turkmen Turkish improved under the affect of Chaghatay. For that reason, Turkmen Turkish includes the characteristics of both Eastern and Western Turkish. Additionally, Nepes used Arabic and Persian words frequently in the text “Zöhre-Tahir” since he was good at oriental literature. Particular attention is drawn to the fact that Nepes uses synonymous Arabic, Persian and Turkish words together. The average percentages of all foreign words in the text were also determined. This study is composed by five chapters. The first chapter contains overviews on Turkmen Turkish, Molla Nepes, the tale of Tahir-Zühre and the text that was studied. In the second chapter which is examination part, the vocabulary, language and stylistics of the text are examined by dividing it into subsections. The examples of meaning events which can be considered as art of speech are given in the third chapter. The index of the text is placed into the forth chapter. Since it was aimed to put forth the vocabulary of the text, not all of the repeating words are indicated. Finally the fifth chapter contains the results of the study.
