Münâsebâtül-Qur'an in the Tafsir of Muhammed Al-Mutevellî Eş-Şaʻrâvî

In this study, the subject of "Munâsebât al-Qur'an" is discussed within the framework of the exegesis named Tafsîr al-Shaՙrâwî by Muhammad al-Mutawallî al-Shaՙrâwî, one of the Islamic scholars trained by Al-Azhar. In Ulûm al-Qur'an, relationships, defined as "the science that deals with the connection and coherence between the words, sentences, verses and surahs of the Quran", has become the focus of attention of exegetes and has come to the fore by revealing the wisdom in the verse and arrangement of the Quran. Shaՙrawî, who performed various educational, administrative and religious notification and guidance services in and outside Egypt, stood out in exegesis. While he was performing exegesis, he preferred to use a simple language and a convincing style that the audience could understand. The exegesis, which was oral at first, was turned into written form over time. Shaՙrawî tried to prove that Quran is the word of Allah and it is the proof and miracle of Muhammad's (pbuh) prophethood. In this sense, in his exegesis, he emphasized the fact that the Qur'an is of divine origin with its wording and meaning, and argued that its words, sentences, verses, surahs, and arrangement in the Mushaf are also of divine origin. By focusing on the arrangement in question, he discussed the relationships on the basis of words, sentences, verses and surahs, without adhering to a system. The dimensions of the relationship that stand out in the topics such as "the meaning that the words preferred in the verses add to the unity of the verse, the word-meaning balance, various forms of connection between consecutive and non-consecutive verses, different forms of relationship between successive and non-consecutive surahs according to the Mushaf order, the relationship between the name of the surah and the surahs themselves" are clearly mentioned in the commentary. Shaՙrawî, who uses the relationships that contribute to understanding the unity of the subject of the Qur'an as a tool in eliminating doubts in the Qur'an, explaining repetitions and reconciling contradictions, also uses them as an argument against those who criticize the verses of the Qur'an.
